Story
On this page you will find my cute as can be, plush Jolly Mah collection. My Nici (the makers of Jolly Mah and other cute plushies) obsession began many years ago but I was initially unaware of what it would become.
I first found a giraffe keyring, then I developed a love for the Nici giraffe. Unfortunately, he disappeared from existence for me for quite some time and I almost forgot about him. Then about two years ago I discovered the Nici giraffe in the Warner Bros. store. It was a very exciting day, as they had a LOT of Nici products - including the adorable Mr. Mah, who I previously had never seen before. After collecting a few giraffes, I found myself loving the gorgeous little sheep Nici made, so I got my very first Jolly Mah; my 15cm standing Jolly Mah.
After that, I was unstoppable. I went to Nici’s website (which was unfortunately all in German at the time) and I saw that Jolly Mah was a big hit amongst the wide range of Nici plush toys. I saw the various plush Jolly Mah’s available and then I was on a mission to find as many as I could because I just couldn’t resist him. A fortunate discovery at the Teddy Bear Shop in the city meant that I knew Jolly Mah could be found elsewhere, but sadly there are very few places. Even online it is difficult to find Mr. Mah and although there are websites in the UK that have just about every Jolly Mah product ever made, buying from them includes the astronomical postage costs, making him quite rare and expensive to collect - especially outside Europe.
In any event, my obsession grew just from that first glimpse of the cutest sheep in existence and now I am officially a Jolly Mah collector.
Here is my collection as it stands:
The 25cm dangling collection, including my very first Jolly Mah - the 15cm standing. Of all of these guys, the brown Jolly was hardest for me to find. Thankfully the Warner Bros. store came through for me again and I found him there. I am collecting every Jolly Mah in the 25cm variety and then all the others I have are just because I either couldn’t resist, or some other random reason. I mean really, who needs a reason to buy another Jolly? All of these were bought in Melbourne; white standing Jolly, hooded Jolly and black Jolly came from the Warner Bros. store in Knox, brown Jolly came from the Warner Bros. store in the city and white Jolly came from the Teddy Bear Shop.
The 35cm collection. I’m not collecting 35cm Jolly Mah’s, I just have these three. These three live at the house of Mule - they just make the room that much cuter. These guys were all bought in Melbourne too. Hooded Jolly came from the Teddy Bear Shop, black Jolly came from the Warner Bros. store and white Jolly came from the Flower Domain.
30cm black lying Jolly Mah. I just randomly decided that I should have one Jolly of every variety (dangling, standing and lying) so naturally that is the reason for my having only one lying Jolly Mah. Fortunately, I recently decided that black lying Jolly needed a friend, so I have a white 30cm lying Jolly on the way from the UK now. He should arrive soon and pics will be posted when he does. Black lying Jolly was bought online at Bright Bambini, which is an Australian toy website.
And finally (for the moment, that is) I have the gorgeous Jolly Wolf who, believe it or not is also a member of the Jolly family and my 12cm grey Jolly Mah keyring.
The story behind these guys is this: for Christmas, my darling Mule bought these two cuties for me. The reason being, I have long been searching for a grey Jolly Mah. According to several sources, they were no longer being made, so to find one was quite rare and naturally I needed it to be a 25cm dangling Jolly to add to my 25cm collection. The problem was that the only place I could find any grey Jolly Mah’s was a UK website that had astronomical postage. So I had basically resigned myself to never having a grey Jolly as it would just be too expensive and even as obsessive as I am, I wasn’t willing to pay over $50 for one 25cm Jolly Mah.
After e-mailing around looking for a 25cm grey Jolly to get for me for Christmas, Mule came to the same conclusion as I - that it just wasn’t going to happen. So, to substitute for that, he decided to get me a Jolly Wolf (who I needed to have if I was going to have at least one of every variety from the Jolly family) and a grey Jolly keyring as a filler for the fact that I had no grey Jolly Mah’s at all and it didn’t look like I’d ever get one.
I was thrilled with this, but then not long after we discovered that a website called Cuddly Kingdom had 25cm grey Jolly! On top of that, we also found out that there was a new member of the Jolly family about to be released; Jolly Rosa! Naturally, this was an excellent opportunity to get the grey Jolly we had been searching for, plus the newest member of the Jolly family at the same time - saving on postage by buying them both in the same order.
So anyway, in short I have two more 25cm dangling Jolly Mah’s and one 30cm lying Jolly Mah on the way. Once they have all arrived, new photos will be taken and posted. I think they are all adorable!
UPDATES!
So the new Jolly Mah’s have arrived! All three of them! Here they are:
Jolly Rosa would have to be a favourite of mine at the moment cos she’s just so damned cute! And you can put her little “hands” in her front pocket, too. Very cute. So there you go! All updated now!
Do you have your own Jolly Mah or Nici collection? I’d love to see and share with other Nici enthusiasts. E-mail me your pics!
